The Republican Ledger is a daily American news publication. This policy explains what we collect from readers, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Advertising and Google AdSense

This website participates in Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

We do not share your name, email address or any account details with advertisers.

What we collect

We collect standard, non-sensitive information only. That means anonymous usage analytics, including Google Analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and referring site.

We also collect email addresses you voluntarily submit through our newsletter signup, and the name, email address and message you voluntarily submit through our contact form.

If you post a comment, we store the display name and comment text you provide so an editor can review it before publication.

We do not collect financial data, government identifiers, health information or any other sensitive category of personal data.

Why we collect it

Analytics data is used strictly to improve the service: to see which reports readers value, to fix problems and to keep the site fast.

Email addresses are used strictly to distribute our newsletter and to reply to messages you send us. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and we never sell or rent reader email addresses.

Data retention and security

We keep the data described above only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for. Reader data is stored with an encrypted hosting provider and access is limited to newsroom staff who need it.

Children

This site is written for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
